Meet Recap

The Buckeye Valley Barons’ Cross Country teams had an outstanding day at the Mid Ohio Athletic Championship held @ Galion Ammans Reservoir.

The boys’ team earned their 8th consecutive MOAC team championship in impressive fashion. Out of the 8 team MOAC wins in school history, this seasons was the lowest score for the Barons, scoring just 19 points as they placed 6 runners in the top 7 spots.

Individual highlights include:
First team MOAC: Zach Kreft (1st), Nathan Holst (3rd), Gavin Shearer (4th), Bill Daily (5th), Jacob Zinn (6th) & Nathan Heiser (7th).

Second team MOAC: Dylan Herbert (11th) & Cameron Hurt (12th)

The Barons are led by many seniors in the boys’ race. Interesting senior stats from the varsity boys include:
Senior Zach Kreft remaining perfect in the MOAC by winning the individual MOAC title all four seasons of his high school career.
Senior Gavin Shearer earning All MOAC honors all four years, with the last 3 seasons being first team.
Senior Nathan Heiser earning All MOAC honors all four years.
Senior Nathan Holst earned All MOAC honors for the third year in a row.
Senior Bill Daily earned All MOAC honors for the second year in a row.
Senior Jacob Zinn has progressed each season from not running in the varsity race as a freshman, to honorable mention as a sophomore, to 2nd team as a junior and to first team as senior.

In the open race, the boys’ swept the top spots. Luke Lucas led the way, followed by teammates Ben Johns, Trent Fenner, Dylan Fisher & Kyle Gray. The MOAC meet was the last full team race of the season for the Barons. Buckeye Valley’s varsity team will travel to Watkins Memorial High School next week for the District Championship on 10/21 @ 12:30p.
